As a profession, we are very used to change.  I’ve been teaching 17 years and have seen maths through many different curricula, and then this – but this is the most logical, to my mind.  I think mastery is quite a convincing argument.   The two days have challenged our thinking as well.  We think of ourselves as the maths geeks of our schools, but we’ve learned so much ourselves, even down to the algorithms.  I don’t think I’ve ever thought about why I teach them some things – that has just been the next step on the curriculum.
