Elizabeth Bridge“At Robin Hood Academy we are two years into our mastery journey. Throughout 2015-2016 all staff received Maths Hub subject specialism training, exposing us to mastery principles. Hayley’s research group provided an opportunity to further develop my own understanding of mastery teaching and grow in confidence when using mastery techniques. In each TRG session we observed Hayley or a colleague teaching inspirational and thought-provoking lessons; we then shared feedback with a view to setting an achievable target to trial in our own schools, such as using stem sentences to develop mathematical vocabulary and conceptual understanding. Additionally, Hayley has visited Robin Hood to carry out learning walks and book assessments. Her positive and constructive feedback is disseminated to SLT and teachers in order to develop mastery throughout school. Participation has resulted in a positive impact for teachers and pupils across all year groups.”
